Education Supports Mark Stone for 5th District Supervisor
Supervisor Mark Stone, running for re-election in the 5th District in Santa Cruz County has secured the endorsements of many leading educators including County Superintendent of Schools Michael Watkins, San Lorenzo Valley Schools Superintendent Julie Haff, The San Lorenzo Valley Education Association, the Scotts Valley Education Association and many individual teachers, administrators and classified staff.
"The Scotts Valley Education Association acknowledges and appreciates the work Mr. Stone has accomplished in working on children's issues. We feel that it is important that he remain our Supervisor. We want a Supervisor who keeps children's welfare as a top priority, and we believe that the work Mr. Stone has been involved with, such as First 5, must continue," said Ann Codd, a teacher at Brook Knoll Elementary School and SVEA President. "It is in the best interest of our region to have Mr. Stone stay in his present position, following through with the child welfare system's new six-year plan."

Labor Supports Mark Stone for 5th District Supervisor
Supervisor Mark Stone, running for re-election in the 5th District in Santa Cruz County has secured the endorsements of three of the major local unions. Each of Service Employee International Union Local #521, United Transportation Union Local #23 and Operating Engineers Local #3 have endorsed Supervisor Stone because of his track record of open communication and support for working families.
SEIU Local #521 represents County, Library, and School workers along with many others. UTU Local #23 represents the bus drivers of the Metro Transit District where Supervisor Stone serves as a director. Operating Engineers Local #3 represents the Santa Cruz Deputy Sheriffs and the Scotts Valley Police Officers.
"Mark has a proven track record of leadership on the Board of Supervisors, and has been a strong advocate for the issues of working people. SEIU members form across the union--the County, the City of Santa Cruz, the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District, the Metro Transit District and more, all speak highly of his work and favored his endorsement," said Matt Nathanson, a Public Health Nurse with the County of Santa Cruz. "We look forward to four more years of working with, challenging, and being challenged by Supervisor Stone."
